The TExES Mathematics/Science 4-8 (114) test is from the Texas Examination of Educator Standards series of exams. These tests are used to verify the base knowledge of prospective educators in a particular content area.
This particular exam, the Mathematics/Science 4-8, is designed to ensure that prospective teachers of math and science in grades 4 through 8 have the necessary knowledge in those subjects to be successful.
The identification number for the Math/Science 4-8 exam is 114. You may have noticed this number attached to the end of the test name. Each of the TExES exams has a specific assigned number that is ultimately only relevant to the testing agency. TExES Mathematics/Science 4-8 Exam Breakdown
The Math and Science 4-8 exam is made up of questions from six math domains and five science domains. There are no subtests in this exam, so a passing score will represent overall content knowledge without distinguishing between the two subjects. Technically, this means that a person who is exceptionally strong in math could compensate for missing more questions from the science domains, or vice versa. Regardless of this technicality, it is still in your best interest to identify weaknesses or gaps in your knowledge and spend extra study time in those areas prior to your exam.

What is a Passing Score
A passing score for the TExES Mathematics/Science 4-8 exam is 240 points out of a possible 300. This is a scaled score, meaning it’s not as simple as answering a certain percentage of questions correctly. Each administration of the test contains different questions that may vary in their level of difficulty when compared with other administrations. Each exam will also contain some field questions that are being tried out and do not apply to your score. These variations are taken into consideration when determining how to score each version of the test.

- The system will now take you through a series of questions related to your testing needs. Within this series of questions, you will select the Mathematics/Science 4-8 test from a drop-down list of your approved test options. Already Certified?
If you are already a certified teacher, you will need your TEA ID in order to create an account on the Texas Educator Certification Examination Program website. If you do not know your TEA ID number, you can log into TEAL on the TEA website to retrieve your number. If you do not know your TEAL login information, you will be able to retrieve it by clicking on the “Forgot your username?” and entering your email address.
While finding your TEA ID may take a few extra steps, once you have that information and create an account, registration couldn’t be simpler. Follow these few steps:
