This exam, Physics 6-12 (032), is required for those planning to teach physics in grades 6-12.
The identification number for the FTCE Physics 6-12 is (032). This number is used by the state and testing administrators to better organize the exams. It is much easier to refer to the many different exams by their exam numbers than by their full names.
FTCE Physics 6-12 Exam Breakdown
The FTCE Physics 6-12 is composed of questions from seven different competencies. It does not have any subtests. This means questions from all of those seven competencies will be used to calculate one overall score that will determine whether or not you have passed the FTCE Physics 6-12 (032) exam.

What is a Passing Score
You must score a 200 on this exam to pass. This is a scaled score, so the exact percentage will vary between administrations or versions of the exam, but as a general rule you can expect that answering at least 70% of the questions correctly will earn you a passing score.
How to Register for the FTCE Physics 6-12 Exam
New to Teaching?
If you are new to teaching you will have a few extra steps prior to registering. You cannot take the exam until you have completed an approved educator preparation program. You can visit the Florida Department of Education website to learn more about the pathways to certification.
Once you have approval from your program, you will be able to register for an account.
- Visit the registration page on the FTCE website.
- Click on the “Log in to your FTCE/FELE account” link.
- Look for a link that says “Create Account.”
- Create a username, fill in your email address, create your password, complete your security question, and click on the “Next” button.
- Fill in your personal and background information. You will then be asked to verify information twice. Take your time to make sure everything is accurate and matches the ID that you will use at the testing center.
- Once you have finished entering your personal information, the system will automatically move into your home screen, where you can select the link to register for an FTCE exam.
- Work through the prompts that follow, in which you will confirm your identity and agree to various exam requirements and policies. You will also have the opportunity to request testing accommodations.
- When you reach the test selection page, choose the test you would like to take from the list. In this case, choose “Physics 6-12,” acknowledge the retake fees and requirements, then click “Next.”
- Answer the required background questions and acknowledge the remaining testing policy information.
- You’re almost done! Verify your information and click “Submit.” After submitting you will pay and select your testing time and location.

If you are already certified to teach in Florida, this will be a quick process!
Follow these simple steps:
