These videos have some general information about test-taking strategies and tips to help you prepare for the CSET: Health Science.

First Thing to Know

CSET is the examination program for the California Subject Examinations for Teachers. CSET tests measure specific knowledge and skills for prospective teachers in California. The CSET: Health Science exam is used to test if teachers meet basic subject matter requirements specific to K-12 health science subjects.

The identification numbers for the CSET: Health Science are 178, 179, and 180. Each identification number corresponds to one of the three subtests. It is good to be familiar with test names and codes before registering for the exam.

CSET: Health Science (178, 179, 180) Exam Breakdown

The CSET: Health Science is made up of three subtests and nine test domains. This means you must pass each individual subtest to pass the entire CSET: Health Science (178, 179, 180) exam.

What is a Passing Score

CSET exams are scored from 100 to 300, with 220 as the minimum passing score. The final score is scaled, which means that raw scores are adjusted to account for differences between test forms.
